About the Blog

Do you like making fun of terrible books but don’t want to take the time to read them? You’re in the right place.

Bad Books, Good Times is a blog run by Ariel and Matthew who read well-known bad books and mock them with the fury that only former English majors can muster. Both read the same books, writing a post for every chapter or so, and share their mockery, criticism, and smartass comments so people don’t have to actually read these books themselves.

We update four times a week because there are so many bad books to blog about and so little time. We cover one book at the start of the week (Ariel on Mondays, Matthew on Tuesdays), and another book at the end of the week (Ariel on Thursdays, Matthew on Fridays). We both read the same books at the same time (usually), because misery loves company. Wednesdays often include bonus posts, like Bad Romance Good Times or the occasional guest blogger.

Please, feel free to join in on the mocking. Ariel would like to add that though she is often terrible at responding to comments, they fill her with the joy of thousands of puppies. We’d love to hear about your good times with these bad books too!

  1. Ahhh! This is awesome! I felt guilty for enjoying the Divergent trilogy because they’re just…well…not well written. As a former English major myself I’m ashamed when I become enthralled by less than respectable books. But alas, I have the hots for Four and I had to finish the trilogy after unintentionally seeing the first movie. I will say though- I like Roth’s twist of the city being a giant social experiment. Keep up the good work! I’m going to start following you now. OooOOOOOOooo creepy.

    • Ha! I hadn’t even seen this comment before responding to the one on your blog. Seriously, I really love to read writing blogs, book reviews, all that good stuff, but I stay quiet because I don’t want people thinking I’m plotting to use their work :0.
